Belief is like an unrequited love.

You can give yourself to it completely...that’s your choice. But you shouldn’t expect anything in return.

The problem begins when you rely on it to respond, to protect, or to prove itself...especially when you need it most. When that response doesn’t come, it feels like betrayal. But in truth, nothing was promised; the expectation was yours.

Belief is placing trust in something outside your direct experience—something not verified, not proven. As long as it gives you strength, clarity, or comfort, it serves a purpose.

But the moment you depend on it as if it must answer back, you set yourself up for disappointment.

It also makes me think of Byron Katie (author) and her stance on "belief. " She says our suffering is due to belief. "I'm" this, "I'm" not that, "she's this or that" etc...all bring suffering. (When you're a believer of anything). "When you say 'I', welcome to hell" she says.
I love her quote, "Nothing is true". Very interesting post, thanks.
