Nope, a fairy tale notion, don’t believe it at all.
My husband and I loved each other dearly but that didn’t stop him from dying at 39 years of age.

@OlderSometimesWiser are u blaming him for dying?
@Wiseacre Huh? Not in the least. I was providing an example of love not conquering all. The love we had for each other could not save him from dying. Of organ failure.

I think that is asking a lot from an emotion, but I do think it hurts a lot of emotional wounds and can change people who aren't affectdd by a mental illness that prevents them from feeling empathy.

I think true love may conquer all. Not all couples have true love though. I know because I don’t feel that I do.
faery · F
No, if that were true wouldn't all terrible things be conquered by now? Love can do a lot and nothing can replace it, but it doesn't conquer all
ElRengo · 70-79, M
No I don´t.
Moreover I don´t think that there is any that, even if may be necesary, is solely enough.
In particular I doubt (to say it gently) that individual agency / self love and.......all that jazz may conquer all.
Or that they may put us near enough of making most of other chips fall in "their places" (whatever that may mean).

Unfortunately it can’t. But it does make hard things more bearable.
StarLily · 51-55, F
No, I think of "conquer" as controlling or forceful... and I don't think love is like that.
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
@StarLily It shouldn't be like that. Sadly, there can be an awful lot of controlling behavior involved in relationships for some people.

Perfect love Conquers all..
But no human being posseses perfect love..
So i believe it.. Because i believe in God..

No .. but then I don't believe most people ever find, or that some are even capable of, real love. If so, there would not be so many failed relationships and marriages.
Wiseacre · F
@BrandNewMan true..
Adogslife · 61-69, M
All? No, not really. But, if you grew up without and then found it yourself and then your wife, well it’s pretty damn special…
bowman81 · M
No, but it makes the struggle a bit easier.

No. Not anymore. It's a romantic fantasy. If it did, would there be wars and fightings and heartbreak and divorce and more?

Conquer - No
Impact - Yes

What it doesn’t conquer is incompatibility.
