You must stop beating yourself up. Christ does not want nor expect the believer to live in constant guilt and defeat.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." Romans 8:1
Christ's sacrifice frees believers from the condemnation and guilt of sin. The focus is on accepting God's forgiveness and walking in the freedom Christ provides, rather than being paralyzed by feelings of defeat or an accuser's voice. Christians are encouraged to confess their sins and rest in the promise that they have been cleansed by Christ, allowing them to have a relationship with God, without guilt.
Read it again...No condemnation. According to Romans 8:1, there is NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Freedom through forgiveness:
Christ's death and resurrection, provide a way for believers to receive forgiveness for their sins, and to be cleansed from a guilty conscience.
Confession and cleansing:
The New Testament encourages us to confess our sins to God and believe that He will forgive and cleanse, freeing believers from guilt [1 John 1:9].
Christ's sufficiency:
God's thoughts are not our thoughts. God does not categorize sin, as humans do. Sin is sin...and ALL sins separate us from Christ, until we repent of them. The power of Christ's blood is sufficient to cover ALL sins, and God sees believers as righteousness, through God's saving grace. NOT because of anything we have done to save ourselves, but because of Christ's work on the cross to save us from our sins, by the shedding of his blood.
"Without the shedding of blood, in the spirit world, there is no forgiveness of sins." Hebrews 9:22
Standing against accusation: Know Your Enemies
Christians are encouraged to confront feelings of guilt and shame with God's Word and resist the voice of any accuser, including Satan or demons, which are seen as an attempt to condemn us.
"Greater is He (Christ and His Holy Spirit) that is in me, than he (Satan) that is in the world." 1 John 4:4
Living victoriously:
The goal is to live in freedom, victory, and confidence...not in shame and defeat.
God's love is unconditional:
God's love is perfect and everlasting. Nothing a person can do, will change His love for us. He doesn't expect us to run around defeated. Not when He gave us the victory through Christ, full of love, hope, and joy, as well as eternal life in heaven. What better hope could we have?
Everyone pretty much knows John 3:16, but do you know John 3:17?? They go hand in hand.
John 3:16:"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him, shall not perish, but have eternal life."
John 3:17:"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."
