No, never. My religion has never played a part in it. However, I don't talk topics of god and jesus which seems to make things difficult for both me and the religious person I'm talking to as it makes conversation difficult when the things I am interested in are "Why things work." and their answer is "God makes it work."
So in that way, religion is a barrier to mutual discussion. That would most probably end the conversation with that person and any follow up if it goes like that.
