Why does the left wing hate Zionism?

@Fukfacewillie Have you ever seen me argue in favor of Authoritarianism or Theocracy? The Trumpcucks have the same goal as Hamas, they just use a different religion to justify it.

@BohemianBabe For me it's the whole "one up" toxic thing, kind of like how couples sometimes feel the need to "one up" each other. It becomes a competition rather than a debate and I dislike that.

Technically yes, but Zionism is a form of Fascism, and Fascism hurts the group in power too. If a two state solution was achieved, Zionism would still be bad because it would harm Jews, the same way patriarchy harms men, despite them being the group in power.

@SatanBurger I think it's more that Conservatives just don't care about reality. They grasp narratives that they like, regardless of if they're wrong. According to right-wing doctrine, the Left hates Christianity and Judaism, but loves Islam. No amount of reality can change their minds on that.

@Fukfacewillie To be fair, I'm sure there are some people who use the "Zionist" label without knowing what it really means. I don't think Biden is a Fash, but he has called himself a Zionist.
But really, Zionism was built on reactionary politics and Jewish Supremacy. That's what the Israeli government has been these past 80 years. I can't see Israel ending the apartheid without some kind of ideological overhaul.

@BohemianBabe The lack of a center left in Israel is a problem. Without the antisemitism of Europe, I doubt Zionism would even have existed. We don’t think we’re “superior” but didn’t trust that Jews would ever be safe in Europe. The Holocaust confirmed that fear. Zionism was also part of many nationalist impulses of the age.

@Fukfacewillie Sure, but that doesn't mean Zionism isn't bad. The Black Hebrews and the Nation of Islam are a result of systemic racism that black people suffered. Both those ideologies are still harmful.
It really does show how violence is a cycle.

@DogMan when you feel the need to be competitive it is kinda. Because so far all I've seen with the Israel vs Palestine debates are mostly one up conversations.

When have I ever defended Hamas in any way? I even said in this thread that I don't think Israel should stop existing. They should either end the apartheid, or there should be a two state solution.
