Humans as a species has only been intelligent for about 100 years. Most humans are still as ignorant as earthworms (and that includes us). Sure, we are much smarter than previous people, but I wouldn't classify us as being "intelligent." Out of the 8 billion people alive today chances are fewer than 100 million are really intelligent. The rest of the population, including us, are just smart monkeys.

If you think you are intelligent then produce all of the components necessary to make a tv, radio, computer, a car, a light bulb, a sheet of window glass, a plastic bag, a cell phone, a water softener, an electric kitchen stove, the paint on your walls. Or build a space rocket and calculate how to land it safely on Mars. If you can do just one of those things then I will classify you as intelligent. Any nitwit can drive a car, just look at the people doing it.
Leonardo daVinci was a creative genius and very intelligent. It's doubtful if you (or me) could do any of the things he was able to do from stratch like he did. Therefore, compared to him we are not intelligent although we can do all kinds of things that he couldn't do. That is because others made it possible for us to do those things.
Name one thing that you have ever done that would indicate that you are intelligent and not just smart.
