Why was the fairness cream invented?

I mean what might have gone in human’s mind to invent such a thing that so much endorsed discrimination?

@Fertilization okay I see. My girlfriend and her cousins use those and she uses a bleach cream on her unwaxed bikini area. She’s gorgeous just the way she is. I don’t get it
