I Struggle With My Body Image

After many years, I have come to terms that I, and my body, are simply different. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have managed to find contentment and some simple pleasures, and yet, so many people seem compelled to try and undo this, as if they feel the need to make me return to being unhappy in myself.

Why do we have to be such a small minded and easily manipulated/brainwashed (I'm looking at the media here, and their constant pushing of the idea's of beauty held by a small number of old men who own the outlets) to following the "ideals" of a small number of decaying old men?

Sorry, had to vent.

It doesn't seem to be so widely shouted about now but the fashion industry as a whole KILLED many hundreds of young women a few years ago with the crazy idea that size 0 was perfection... The amount of girls and young women that died through trying to attain the impossible or damaged their health permanently is incredible... Women are beautiful no matter wbat body shape they have and as ling as they are healthy and happy then that is the perfection for them...

@morgangray didn't want to repeat myself there, I guess it's difficult to stop a rant once it gets going

Personally i would burn all the so called know it all fashion gurus.... A happy healthy woman is gorgeous at 110lbs or 300lbs...@morgangray

@morgangray I agree with you, but I'd add that there are powerful women in the fashion industry who also promote a damaging image of the female body through fashion magazines and various advertising campaigns.

Vent away! The only person who should be truly concerned, excited, depressed, elated, whatever the case may be is the person within said being. Nobody else's opinion matters.

Beauty is from within. From what I see you have an abundance - inside and out. You define who you are. Have a healthy and happy New Year. 🤗

If you can be happy with who you are and what you have then you are good and no one's opinion matters

You are absolutely beautiful! Reading your stories I would like to get to know you better.

Morgan, I think there was no reason for you to say you were sorry. Instead, I think that the people who contribute to body shaming should be apologizing...
You have a very beautiful face and sound like a sweet person

I, and my body, are simply different. I think that's brilliant. A similar way to think of it is, I am more than my body. That takes a lot of pressure off of women to live up to some ideal and torture themselves when they don't.

Most people want to be different from who they are. They look to the outside rather than the inside because outer beauty is displayed everywhere. You can make money off that, easily. People are insecure and they play on that. I don't like it but it is there. I think that maybe people just don't want to deal with internal issues sometimes or think about deeper things in life and that is how we come to be this way.

I agree, it is nothing but a prison, social media, advertisements, the media, they pump us daily with an idealised form. I say this, you're in this world only once, why allow someone else to decide how you should dress or look, why work out, eat right, try to slim yourself down to that bikini or whatever if its all just to please someone else or some abstract social obligation.

I say deliver me from perfection, perfection is the path towards contentment and contentment leads to a lack of passion and living. It is our imperfections that make us who we are, that define our true beauty as individuals, that give us our stories.

Why be like everyone else just to fit in and become nothing more than a statistic?

first realise that now body is a commodity for business and to make profit.the shop owners may be old guys or ladies or young guys. all of them want to sell their products.
RPFeeder · 36-40, M
Bottom line up front is "They hate you because they 'ain't' you." Every woman with Cs and Ds is confident with themselves as being "Big" until you walk in the room and shatter their confidence. Then they lash out because they are jealous and intimidated. If I were you, when ever I heard someone make a snide remark, I would push out my chest towards them and say "What was that little girl? I couldn't heard you over another of my growth spurts." People who don't accept others are crazy, and you have to fight crazy with crazy.
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
Those old men who own those outlets couldn't care less with the concept of beauty, they only care about how much profit they can get.
So awesomely said. Don't listen to any of them.

As a woman, i believe we need to be happy with our own minds and bodies and not try to blame "decaying old men". We have the control and responsibility for ourselves and blaming others is a cop out.
Too much is said by media about what is beauty, it's important that you believe in yourself and have confidence

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

Livingwell · 61-69, M
I'm with you sister. I like healthy women, not twigs. The 50's would have been great.
