Behind the ear, all it takes is a single whack and they go down instantly.

@Nimbus when someone was trying to open my front door every night for a week I had a baseball bat and was going to stand behind the door and thump em behind the ear with it if they actually got inside. Would have duck-taped them and called the cops on them. I was sleeping every time it happened for 4 nights in a row at about 10:15….on the 5th night I hadn’t fallen asleep in my recliner chair (it was on Friday night) and heard it again. Before that I thought I was having the same dream and waking up each time.

@cherokeepatti A few years ago my mom was in her declining years and complained to me that someone was trying to break into her room at night. I rather doubted it as it was a secured facility but Mom kept insisting. One day while visiting my brother in law decided to look at her bed. The headboard was a bit loose and if someone moved in the bed it would bang on the wall. After the bolts were tightened the complaining about people breaking into Mom's room stopped.

@hippyjoe1955 well the evening I stayed awake to watch the news I heard it and it was at the very same time. The storm door has a squeaky hinge (that I won’t spray with lubricant to stop it) and someone was opening really really slow to try to lesson the sound and then it was like they stood and looked through the peephole to detect movement inside. after a minute or so they would close the storm door really slowly too and it would squeak again. Same thing happened 5 nights in a row. And on that Friday I was cooking my dinner about 6 p.m. and I thought I heard voices by the side door of the garage. I went out there and it stopped. i think someone was casing this house to try to get inside. My car was pared right out front as usual.

@hippyjoe1955 I called the police Saturday morning and they told me they would have an officer drive around the neighborhood about the same time of night and that usually would scare off these types. Seems to have worked because I never heard it again.

@cherokeepatti Glad you have good cops around and glad that they were able to cure the problem.

@hippyjoe1955 community policing. And we are getting a new mayor and city council is reinstating the police positions that the old mayor and city council eliminated in the summer of 2020. I signed a petition a couple months ago and the man at the store said the reason we are having a chronic problem with meth camps here is that that mayor gave the police orders to stand down and let them rebuild their camps. They have become a menace to citizens and police too. An increase in crimes and arrests even at the homeless shelter and meal kitchens in the past year.
