What really is hyalauronic acid?

Beauty products advertise that they contain this and other acids, then think about those women who have been attacked by monsters throwing acid…….

What are they thinking?

I’m going to grow old gracefully and not try to prolong my beauty using such products.

A definition from Google AI:

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural, gooey substance produced by the body that acts as a powerful humectant, holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water to hydrate skin, lubricate joints, and aid wound healing. Primarily used in serums, creams, and fillers, it plumps skin, reduces fine lines, and treats joint pain. It is well-tolerated by all skin types.

Key Benefits & Uses
Skincare: Deeply hydrates, plumps, and smooths skin, enhancing radiance and elasticity.
Anti-Aging: Reduces the appearance of fine lines and soft wrinkles.
Joint Health: Used as injections (viscosupplementation) to cushion joints and relieve knee osteoarthritis pain.
Wound Healing: Applied as gels or creams to treat mouth sores, skin ulcers, and burns.
Eye Care: Used in eye drops to relieve dry eyes.

How It Works
As a polysaccharide (sugar) found in skin and connective tissues, HA acts like a sponge, pulling water from the air and deeper skin layers to the surface. It maintains the skin's moisture barrier and keeps tissues lubricated.

Side Effects & Safety
HA is naturally occurring and generally safe, with few allergic reactions.
Topical use is safe for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin.
Injections might cause temporary pain or swelling.
It is considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Drug Interactions & Usage
There are no major commonly listed drug interactions with topical or injectable HA.
It is best applied to damp skin followed by a moisturizer to lock in moisture.
It can be used daily, both morning and night.
