Vanity for some, definitely. But I think there are also alot of people who simply hate the way they look and it makes them feel more confident in themselves.

@Tumbleweed it isn't just women. But there are many reasons for plastic surgery, disfiguration, like mastectomy, medical problems like nasal instructions, etc.

There's no one reason. Some to correct a disfigurement. Some to correct a medical condition. And some to regain or retain a bit of their youth or image.
