They feel as though a person shouldn't have let themselves get this big so therefore, they "don't deserve" to eat nor to get around via motorized wheelchair

@iamnikki You could well be right, and that attitude is as bad as similarly denigrating anyone for any other disabling condition.
Yes, obesity often is self-inflicted (whether encouraged by others for whatever "reason") but its sufferers need care and help to lose all that weight before heart disease, diabetes or other serious illness related to their condition really sets in.
