Why do employers act like it isn't insane that they make employees pay for the uniform?

Because it absolutely is. You want your employees to wear some otherwise useless polo or barging shit-fit teeshirt with your logo on it then you should have to supply it for them.

Having to pay to work for a business is like MLM shit

@BlueVeins Pretty much but there's grey areas. Like most jobs I take want me to have and supply my own basic tools. That doesn't bother me really because they carry their usefulness to home and other future or side jobs. In the long run they become investements in myself. But even there it isnusually expexted the employer is going to supply the consumables like blades and such that go along with the tools or give an allowance for such. Also it isn't usually expected you buy expensive job specific specialty or high dollar tools like say a demo saw or power auger. But uniforms are otherwise entirely useless and nost often horribly undersized and fitted. Why should we have to pay for that? I can see them holding the cost for a month or two and if you quit in that time you have to pay but.

@MethDozer Even then, they should at least be willing to buy the damn thing back at a discount if the job doesn't work out.

I guess. I have to wear suits for work and almost never wear them outside of my job. Hate spending that money
is it nor subsidised?
