Baseball classic
My joy in the U.S. beating the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic last night was lessened a little bit by the way it happened, on a very bad call from the umpire. I had such good snark lined up for Big Papi (David Ortiz) & A-Roid (Alex Hernandez) who both predicted that the U.S. would lose but it would seem a little bit cheap now.
However, a win is a win as the saying goes. And we did beat Team Canada to get that far which is obviously very important. Can you imagine the horror of the Canadians beating us at our national game like we did to them at theirs?
Though to be honest, I too thought the D.R. would win as they are phenomenal players and the country lives & breathes baseball. I also did not foresee Italy making it this far. But I do predict them getting their asses handed to them by Venezuela as they, like the D.R., have great ballplayers
