It's properly called a Quadcopter, not a "drone".馃槚

Some people have the wrong idea about these things. They are low flying, fast, and , nimble. They excel at racing and freestyle flying.

I bought a little one years ago. Too little. Any thought of a breeze and it was thrown off. It has nothing in the way of stable flight things or homing.

I think these are very cool. I'm not interested in racing. Just flying with a camera, coming back safe.

There SOOOO many options - I have no idea what would be good and what not.

Any thoughts?
@Budwick Personally, at least a 4" frame, 2 cell battery.
I started off flying these, called a pitch plus 115.

Tiny, light weight, and fairly cheap, but in the wind they become helpless.
I opted to build my own from this frame.

Much better, more power, takes some getting used to as the little pitch plus is very easy to fly.
@Budwick You might even look into a hexacopter. More expensive to build, but very stable.
@Budwick Did you have one that flew out of the box, or did you assemble and program it yourself?

@UnderLockDown I had to put the props on, charge the batteries, no genuine assembly. There was also no programming. This thing was mega basic. I'll check out pitch plus, and report back.
@Budwick Look for a program called Betaflight, it allows you to make adjustments and setup the flight boards. The coreless motors don't last very long, but the pitch plus is fun to learn on. I got mine on ebay. USA Quadcopters.

@UnderLockDown Your information is really helpful. Thank you.
I just saw a quick video in the pitch plus 115 it's small!

I'll check out betaflight.

@UnderLockDown OK - using your information as a starting point I'm learning a little. I'm starting to think that I may be able to put something together for less money than those super duper kits.

Thanks a lot!
@Budwick The board I used was SP Racing F3 EVO. Cheap, easy to find.
@Budwick USA quadcopters includes a set of rotors with the motors they sell, they work pretty well and they're free.馃槉
