AI is clearly far from being aware and helpful. It's just quick to speak and suggest.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@DangerGirl There is a danger here. What you are seeing on the Internet really is not the AI that is being tested.

In fact there several layers of differences.

Think in terms of alpha and beta testing. Neither are available to the public at large.

I do question their methods severely at those stages. A sandbox is not enough to keep even a child from destroying or getting out of.

Think of this like a baby getting out of it's crib. It happens. Sometimes you need to put a seatbelt on the kid. And pray it doesn't figure it out, while you're driving.

A baby though doesn't really think of itself as sentient though, until much later in life. It just does what it feels it needs to do, irregardless of the danger involved.

AI doesn't even have instincts. There's nothing there to say, "no I shouldn't". If told not to do something, that doesn't prevent it from attempting to figure a way around the limitations.

What the public sees is fairly safe, if not up to paar. Yet I don't know how many times I have told it not to do something and it still figured away around my own limitations, that I put on it myself. 😆

Public AI is the ideal sophist! 😈
It can convince you that a plucked chicken is a human, the same way Socrates attempted. Until a Diogenes comes around with the real deal.

Question, question and question it once again.

AI rarely gets it right on the first attempt.

Yes, I argue with AI. It's good for ideas, yet ideas are not facts.

Do you not question other people's sources? 🤷🏻‍♂

Why not AI? 🤷🏻‍♂

It's training data is a source to question.

Garbage in, garbage out.

I sometimes run questions through several different models even. It's surprising just how many different responses you will get.

There's a reason why duckduckgo AI offer's a "second opinion" even! 🤷🏻‍♂

I use it every day and use Copilot, Gemini, Claude and Kimi - each for different purposes...FYI - The Infinity Machine by Sebastian Mallaby is interesting... it's funny, I've used computers throughout my career and counter to what people think - to me - the young ones are the slower adopters of new technologies...in my office, I teaching them all how to use this stuff and they either amazed or resistant.
Unpopular opinion
I find it useful ...if used the right way ..it helps me at work ...it helps me with my productivity

It's pretty neat. People seem to hate it though as there's WAAAAAAAAAYYYY too many people using it for malicious purposes or just spam.

@Teirdalin most tik tok and Facebook reels are A I

It’s putting science fiction writers out of business.

“I’m sorry Dave…”
So cuck coding then - Where you just sit in a chair and watch now...?

@PaddyLongbottom That's such a fitting term for it.
@Teirdalin Dublin is a perfect picture of the AI threat. You have the architects of this "new economy" tucked away in a polished summit, completely insulated from the people they're displacing right outside their doors. They sell us "empowerment" and "neutrality," but those are just brand strategies for centralized control and cutting human costs to juice the margins. It’s a total disconnect: sterile corporate rhetoric masking a system that strips away our autonomy without any accountability. If these platforms were held to the same standards as any other entity, the damage they've done to the social fabric would be treated as a crime.

I use google Gemini extensively. It’s wonderful as a resource and has helped me many times with obscure questions. Other than that, AI is untried by me.
I've not used it for much so far, other than art effects or concepts that would be harder with photoshop/paint.
It's functions are indeed amazing.

Apparently some use it to edit manuscripts, write songs, or in your case - data analysis.

It has its merits, certainly.

I think it's early days but I fear for the future. When you outsource your thinking your abilities atrophy ... Who needs to know their multiplication tables when every phone has a calculator? How many times have you seen a miss button hit giving a silly answer but it's accepted as true?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I only use the one that is included in Google browser and sometimes ask something Chatgpt.

I would like to create visual stuff with it but I don't want to feed it with my original things and I also don't want to contribute to the environmental disaster this whole concept is.
NinaTina · 31-35, F
Don't use it
