I generally speak to them at the same level of politeness I do a person. As they are trained to mimic us, and frequently use our interactions for more training data I would rather a positive nature be integrated into the learning.
I also don't believe in souls. So that isn't really an important distinction to me.

@ViciDraco I agree with the example part of this. And that it's necessary for it to learn to be polite.
One user brought up this point indirectly, not understanding why the AI was acting homicidal against the human race.
I had to bring up the point that he himself was the one limiting the AI by his own behavior. Each account has its own profile on the users for a limited amount of time. I believe with chatGPT is 6 months.
