I want a skinny girl who eats like a fat girl
Emele · 31-35, FVIP
@MartinTheFirst They don't keep skinny for long in my experience
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Emele 🥴
@MartinTheFirst You'd be surprised how little some fat people eat.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom no i wouldnt be, cuz fat people don't eat little. That's scientifically impossible.
@MartinTheFirst Some people have a metabolism where they gain weight even with a restricted diet, just as other people can eat whatever they want and not gain weight. The "calories in, calories out" model doesn't work for everyone. Human beings aren't calorimeters.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom That's wrong though, if you read up on it from reputable sources then the change in metabolism between people is actually very small. Metabolism is just one factor to it. It's much more about what you eat, and how much you eat. Fat reserves is energy, and you can not create more energy than you put in, and you can not move around without burning calories, since that's energy taken directly from what you put in.
@MartinTheFirst Actually, I have read up on it from reputable sources. People differ in how they process the energy in food. Also, different foods with the same calories can be processed differently.

@MartinTheFirst Some references if you're interested.

Obesity not a matter of willpower, but biology [c=003BB2]https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/why-willpower-isn-t-enough-to-keep-the-pounds-off-1.3907411[/c]

Minimal results of physical activity [c=003BB2]https://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Fulltext/2001/06001/Physical_activity,_total_and_regional_obesity_.23.aspx[/c]

Or, you can just keep saying "fat people should eat less and exercise more."
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom What part of my "ok" did you not get?
@MartinTheFirst I assumed you were agreeing with me, so I provided a few references you can use when you push back against ignorant fatphobia in any future conversations.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom Your fear of ignorance is turning you ignorant. You're repeating things I've already said, it does have some effect, and yes working out sucks for weight gain, but you're not reading up on how little effect it actually has in the big picture. Instead you quoted CBC news to vaguely confirm your opinion that it's all about differences in metabolism, in contrast to the journals you referenced for things that I've always said is true.

I don't even understand why you wanna argue about this when you have such a piss-poor argument. I'll let you go on and believe whatever you want, that's what my "ok" was.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom Ps. Strength training is what you should be doing for physical activity if you want to lose weight but be able to eat more. More mass = more energy consumption.
@MartinTheFirst You're still arguing the CICO theory, which has been proven incorrect. Working out isn't as good for losing weight as limiting food intake, although exercise can contribute to overall health for anyone, fat people included. What happens when food intake is limited is an immediate weight loss followed by a plateau when the body becomes accustomed to less food, followed by weight gain if the person returns to eating a normal amount.

Look, I get that fat people, especially fat women disgust you, and you'd prefer that they not exist so your delicate sensibilities aren't offended. However, the existence of stone age figurines like the Venus of Willendorf prove that fat people have always existed, even in a supposedly "natural" environment. We need to accept that fat people should be allowed to exist without discrimination and constant demands that they lose weight if they want to be taken seriously.
Emele · 31-35, FVIP
@LeopoldBloom I'm sure you mean well but I find your reply more 'othering' to me as a fat person than anything Martin has said, I don't see at all where he has indicated any disgust at fat people. I don't need anyone's permission or acceptance to exist and although that's something you are arguing for too, it just comes across as patronizing to me.
@Emele I didn't mean to do that. I only wanted to push back on Martin's repetition of the discredited CICO theory. And while you may not have picked up on any fatphobia in Martin's post, trust me, it's there. Fat people get the "just eat less and move more" line all the time from people who are "only concerned about your health." I also have a history with Martin you may not be aware of.

I would recommend Aubrey Gordon's new book You Just Need to Lose Weight and 19 Other Myths About Fat People which is where I got the references I cited.

@LeopoldBloom we do not have a history lol, unless you call coming to my comments all the time to argue history
