Question for women - how do you know if you're lesbian and how do you start a lesbian relationship?

Wondering... I don't know how to ask any women I know about this.

The obvious response to that question would be if a woman finds that she is attracted to other women rather than guys. It’s quite common.

Then you ask the woman out that you are attracted to.

Quite simple really.

@justanothername You're not a woman though - I was asking women for their views.

@zonavar68 I don’t need to be. When you are talking about humans and physical attractiveness the same basic rules apply regardless of whether you are a guy asking a woman out or a woman asking another woman out.

Obviously just because you are a women who likes other women doesn’t mean that you find every woman attractive. Same goes for guys. We don’t find every woman attractive. Some are more attractive than others.

@justanothername All true, but what I'm trying to fathom is what actually *is* the attraction that some women feel about other women specifically? what about another women causes it? Attraction isn't pre-programmed - it's learnt behaviour (in my view).

@zonavar68 Your view is a very outdated traditional view. It’s not a learned behavior. It’s purely the way a person feels. Some guys feel they are more attracted to other guys than to women. Same deal goes for women. It’s wrong that’ a person should have to justify the way they feel about someone. It should be accepted not judged against.

@justanothername But a 'feeling' has to have an origin - something that triggers it. You can't say 'it is a feeling' without trying to understand why and how that happens.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@zonavar68 And who are you to feel that you have to ask someone to justify the way thy feel about someone they love?

That’s a very conservative view on life.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@justanothername I'm saying it how it is for me. It's not made up or fabricated.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@zonavar68 And I’m saying you have a very traditional conservative view on physical attraction. It’s not our business to judge someone by who they find attractive. We can feel sorry for a person when they are attracted to someone who is physically or emotionally abusive to them but if two people are happy their relationship then let it be.

@justanothername Ok so what sort of view do you believe is 'normal' then? I can't do body language reading, etc. so maybe that's why I find understanding attraction and the concepts of intimacy and romance so difficult. The only way I can explain it is I see all that only in a 2-dimensional framework and can't really do it 3-dimensionally.

@zonavar68 You are a straight guy, as am I. The only way any guy can spot a gay girl is when they see her with her girlfriend or wife and at that point. The only other time you would be likely to know is when you are chatting her up and you as her out and she says, sorry I’m into girls not guys. That’s when you find another girl at the bar to chat up.

I’m going to disregard the rest of you comment as meaningless fluff and distraction.

@justanothername Its not meaningless to me, but I digress. So how does a woman tell if a guy is straight, gay, or bi then?
justanothername · 51-55, M
@zonavar68 Usually by talking to him if he is standing there by himself. I know right, shocking huh…

Lesbians have existed since the 6th century BC. The term lesbian is derived from the Greek island of Lesbos. Sappho(sapphic erotica) who lived on the island, wrote poems about her attraction to women.
