Are people getting dumber by the day or Intelligence is fast becoming a rare trait?

Maintaining and progressing in the smarts department requires a modicum of effort, and we're in a world where everything is made to be easy, we thus drift down into stupidity.

Technology is making people dumb and dependent. We need to solve problems and do things for ourselves to maintain our intelligence.

It's a lazy mind epidemic. People have lost their curiosity and instead simply look for what they want to be true. That means learning and being challenged just don't happen these days

Things are pretty much the same as always, but perhaps the internet/social media is making the intelligence-challenged bolder and more vocal because their ignorance is continually reinforced by other intellects of the same level?
