@sarabee1995 I read an interesting essay on that years ago, in the context of gay male culture. It talked about how in the 1980s in many cities, the gay bars were full of guys dressed up like construction workers, cops, longshoremen. But how in gritty waterfront towns, the guys had to dress like that for work everyday, so they dressed like businessmen in the bars, with suits and ties.

@Stephie Well ... Here in New England, especially this time of year, flannel is practically a regional/cultural uniform. Stop in at Dunks for a hot beverage (coffee, tea, cocoa, etc) and almost everyone is wearing flannel. Of course, the way you know the TRUE New Englanders is that they are ordering iced coffee all the way through winter! 🤣🤣🤣

@sarabee1995 bah! that's nothing. In Scotland, men wear flannel year round, drink iced coffee but have no underwear to warm them up...
