What was it like to do PE in bare feet?

Growing up in the US, going barefoot in PE was unheard of. We always wore sneakers (trainers) and socks. I remember a few gymnastic lessons in elementary school where we took our shoes off, but socks stayed on. After doing some research, I found out that it’s common in the UK to do PE in bare feet. Did you remove your footwear while getting changed, or were you told to? After reading some people’s experiences, I feel like I missed out on something.

@faeriemagic I think we are in the minority of doing indoor work at school bare foot, although gymnastics should always be so.

@Hayleywg what they call floor work is supposed to be bare feet that's why they have special floors, and beams and stuff are easier to use without trainers

@faeriemagic exactly! I’m teaching now and we get a few parents complaining about their children having to be bare foot!

@Hayleywg They will complain more when their kids fall off stuff

@faeriemagic exactly, bare feet are the safest, look at the Olympic gymnasts!
