What was it like to do PE in bare feet?

Growing up in the US, going barefoot in PE was unheard of. We always wore sneakers (trainers) and socks. I remember a few gymnastic lessons in elementary school where we took our shoes off, but socks stayed on. After doing some research, I found out that it’s common in the UK to do PE in bare feet. Did you remove your footwear while getting changed, or were you told to? After reading some people’s experiences, I feel like I missed out on something.

We did gymnastics with bare feet at school.I preferred it and ran track and cross country with my feet bare too.

@tallpowerhouseblonde From what I’ve seen online, it looks like everyone enjoys it. I love working out barefoot, so doing PE class in bare feet I think would have been very fun.

@tallpowerhouseblonde yeah I’m sure there was a few people who probably would’ve preferred to wear shoes if given the option. I don’t think I would’ve been one of those people. Many of the schools I’ve searched online seem to be strict about bare feet for indoor PE.
