What was it like to do PE in bare feet?

Growing up in the US, going barefoot in PE was unheard of. We always wore sneakers (trainers) and socks. I remember a few gymnastic lessons in elementary school where we took our shoes off, but socks stayed on. After doing some research, I found out that it’s common in the UK to do PE in bare feet. Did you remove your footwear while getting changed, or were you told to? After reading some people’s experiences, I feel like I missed out on something.

I don't think that its something to " miss out on" and I doubt somehow that most of physical ed even in the UK is done barefoot most of the time.
Its wet and possibly chilly outside and they have to run and do many outdoor things just like the rest of us.
I'm sure it can't be very often that their phys ed is barefoot.

@REMsleep From what I found out, most UK primary schools indoor PE is done in bare feet, and shoes worn for outdoor PE. Not sure about high schools.
