I Went Barefoot To School

Unfortunately for me I couldn't actually attend school with bare feet much to my dislike, so most of the time I wore simple ballet flats without socks or tights and this seemed fine for most of the time. Except! Hot summers when even the flats became unbearable and I just had to walk around school barefoot and luckily I got away with that.

Once I was in sixth form though everything changed and we didn't have a uniform so little me attended lessons barefoot all the time I was "barefoot girl" to most of the younger years and just "hippie Sandra" to my peers. I didn't care my feet were bare and I loved it. For two whole years I went barefoot everywhere and I wouldn't have met my ex if I wore shoes so being barefoot was just fabulous.

It should be quite normal to go barefoot to school and had been in several parts of my country until about the mid seventies. It's not forbidden now, but very few parents allow their kids to attend school without proper footwear.

@poimandres15 I agree. There will be plenty of time for shoes once they enter the workplace. I'd have enjoyed school more had I been allowed to go barefoot.
