It's low-key kind of funny how big the difference is in between what the media wants us to THINK is attractive, and what we ACTUALLY find attractive.

TL;DR You know...all those celebrities with tons of plastic surgery, who often post photos on social media that have been heavily edited and filtered. I've personally met more people making fun of that type of thing, rather than people who actually are into it.

When I write this I'm mainly referring to "plus size women" and "men with dad bods," but not just that. Like there are all these celebrities who gets tons of plastic surgeries, and the photos posted on social media are often so fake. They are often so edited and have some weird filters.

Obviously there is an audience that likes plastic surgeries and fake social media photos, otherwise they probably wouldn't exist at all in the first place; but from my experience they don't seem to be the majority. I've seen more people making fun of people like that than anything. Saying they look "more like weird aliens than actual humans."

But even when not just talking plus size women or dad bods, just more average or natural looking people in general rather than what the media considers "perfect." You know...women who have tiny waists while at the same time having huge boobs and huge hips and a huge butt. This body type usually doesn't occur naturally. Or men who are basically 100% muscle and who can grow perfect beards and have chest hair in exactly the right place while at the same time not having much, if any hair on the back or shoulders or stomach or whatever.

Like almost everyone has some sort of "standard" for what they consider attractive and not attractive. Like usually people like people who are in general good shape, and not too overweight or underweight. They also usually like well groomed and well dressed people. But it's not as exaggerated or as specific as the media makes it out to be.

I will never understand why people do that kind of stuff.

I find that the female body type you referred to with tiny waist and hug hips, ass, and boobs are becoming more extreme, almost grotesque. I have also noticed that a lot of women have the same look. Dark hair, dark eyes with the same lips and eyebrows, wearing the same clothes and posing the say way in the mirror.

Everyone has an individual standard, and that's fine, but the media has always tried to guide us into what we should like. From models and celebrities that are more plastic than flesh, to the "health at every size" campaign, it's all to sell something. So like what you like.

May God give everyone the confidence of mid white women who think their fake lashes and brassy hair is the beauty standard lmao
@SW-User Haha...so fucking true. 🤣 Though in general, I don't think I'd blame the women themselves as individuals. I would blame the media for perpetrating those ideas in the first place.

They probably grew up as little girls and/or teenagers hearing from the media that the fake lashes and brassy hair is "the beauty standard," and so they wanted to adopt it to be trendy or fit in or be attractive or whatever.

Though you could argue that mature adult women should be able to smell BS when they come across it and make their own conclusions instead of just blindly following media trends.

@SW-User I mostly dislike any type of makeup that is obviously makeup. I prefer people to appear as their real, honestly presented selves.

Don't trust the media to inform you on what is attractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and we each of us perceive beauty in a unique way.

in my humble experience, mens standards are lower than what they display on the internet or whatever
