Do you view someone differently if they are attractive?

I get frightened and cannot approach the person as I feel I'm not allowed to experience romantic attraction, and if an attractive person speaks to me first I go into immediate 'escape' mode. It's just how I'm conditioned/wired. can't do friends/relationships very well as a result and would prefer to be alone than be in a social situation with other people.
