dressing up - it seems to mean something different to women vs men

To a woman, 'dressing up' implies getting ready for some kind of formal function where it's all about looks and sex appeal.

To a man, I don't know what it means. I don't do formal things.

It means, “Pull out the tux. This is going to be expensive.”

@Adogslife Isn't Tux a penguin?
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@zonavar68 I never thought of it that way, but I see the analogy.

@Adogslife Tux - the Linux penguin is what I meant. Dressing up to me means getting dressed for work (in hi-vis railway clothing) out of my basic unexciting 'around-the-house' wear which itself is usually old work clothes and basic stuff.
