The US did not make global economy use USD. However is the most commonly used "reserve" currency worldwide.
What's a reserve? It's the funds a country holds in its central bank.
Since the end of WWII, the USD emerged as the world's choice for reserver currencies.
The US benefits because when countries buy USD, and store it, it allows the US to print more USD. It also makes it easier for other countries to buy US Treasury securities, aka allows the US to borrow from other countries.
Another side effect is allowing the US to extend the reach of financial sanctions worldwide.
Replacing the USD is possible, but no one is in a rush to replace the USD with Rubles or Yuans.
So, you may have people saying that the US collapse is imminent, the fact is that today, despite a years-log sustained campaign by Russia/China, the USD is at near record strength against currencies.
