How and why a human become an atheist

Actually very simple. I don’t believe in the spirit world, magic, or the supernatural. I know the mythology, the history, and I understand the need for a “higher power “
In all honesty, I have to include god in the same list with demons, fairies, pixies, vampires, goblins, elves, etc.
if you cherry pick, and ignore what you know can’t be true, then you’re simply telling yourself what you want to hear for your own sense of gratification and security.
A couple of Christians here told me, I should learn to think with my heart instead of my head, and accept Jesus for the sake of my soul. I can’t think of one reason why both can’t come to the same conclusion.
