How and why a human become an atheist

I am certain God exists, but I need to know how and why atheists become atheistic.

So, paging any atheist, please explain how and why you become an atheist, that will motivate me to know God better.

If you're asking with honesty and sincerity, and just don't want to argue your beliefs (which I think might be the case) I'll bite. Religion, ALL widely practiced religions, are provable fables created by men.

I'll assume you're a Christian because there's only one god in your world, right? Well, the whole basis of Christianity was created way before the bible came to be. It was regurgitated from other stories. And as you probably know, there's thousands of gods out there. If you happened to have been born in the Middle East your god would be Allah. Different god. And Christianity is way late to the game. There were all kinds of sun gods way before Christianity.

I'm an atheist because I'm an animal. My ability for cognitive thinking is all that separates me from other mammals. I'm not so arrogant as to think I'm special. That means I don't live in fear of some supernatural being that was created to control behavior. I don't need to be told how to behave because I know what's right and wrong. I also don't need the promise of 'eternal life' because I know I'm an animal that will die and decompose like every animal. It's all very easy.

And what's always been ironic to me is that the most "Christian-like" people are typically atheists. The fear and hate of the 'other' doesn't exist like it does with the religious. "Us vs. Them" isn't part of the equation. Sure makes life a lot simpler, more accepting and nicer. So there you go. My atheist perspective for you. No response is necessary. Thanks.

@Ynotisay You only got this narrative partially right. The Christ story does precede His time on Earth 2000 years ago.. in fact right to the Fall of mankind through sin, in Genesis… and even before time.
But the reason why so many religions have similarities is because they have the same origin. The original fall of man. They’re distorted from the Bible, because they aren’t Christian, so they seek a different take. After all… the Other (Satan) only needs to distract them away from God’s redemptive work
