How and why a human become an atheist

I am certain God exists, but I need to know how and why atheists become atheistic.

So, paging any atheist, please explain how and why you become an atheist, that will motivate me to know God better.

I didn't "become" an atheist, I was one as far back as I can remember. As a child the whole god thing just seemed silly to me.

@ChipmunkErnie None of my grandparents and neither of my parents, nor I, ever felt any kind of compelling necessity to postulate gods, let alone expound on such a postulation, and I have extended the same courtesy to my daughter, never having lied to her.
