@TBIman IMO, people hung up on this issue forget how everything before their eyes came into existence. Where did your computer come from? Where did your clothes come from? Where did the paint on your walls come from? Where did your car come from? Where did your toilet paper come from? And on and on.

Solid matter came into existence once celestial hydrogen formed and clumped together to form stars that cooked up new and heavier elements. Nothing solid would exist if it wasn't for hydrogen.

Everything in nature comes from the process of evolution, which is a never-ending process.

@Diotrephes Exactly! Hydrogen is a colourless, odourless gas that, given enough time, turns into an elephant 😀 👍

@newjaninev2 Hydrogen turned into you so of course it can become an elephant as well.

@Diotrephes Even solid matter is mostly empty space and subatomic particles can be thought of as waves or force fields.

@Diotrephes Yup, pretty versatile stuff!

"By mass, about 96 percent of our bodies are made of four key elements: oxygen (65 percent), carbon (18.5 percent), hydrogen (9.5 percent) and nitrogen (3.3 percent). These elements do not give color to fireworks, but they are found in our body’s most abundant and important molecules, including water, proteins and DNA."

"Of the 118 elements on Earth, just 21 of them are found in the human body. Together, they make up the medley of divergent molecules that combine to form our DNA, cells, tissues, and organs."

"Four elements, namely, oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen, are considered the most essential elements found in our body."

Notice that three of the four are gases.

"Hydrogen, the most abundantly found chemical element in the universe, is present in all bodily fluids, allowing the toxins and waste to be transported and eliminated. With the help of hydrogen, joints in our body remain lubricated and able to perform their functions. Hydrogen is also said to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, helping improve muscle function."

@Diotrephes and oxygen is the most generally corrosive element... it’s pretty nasty stuff, although I use it myself even though too much will kill you 😀

We are just gas bags.

Isn't it simply amazing how "dead" atoms combine to create life forms that eat other dead atoms in order to live and that we are mostly composed of gases?

If you could find the switch that turns the furnace off and disable it, you could probably life forever.

A smart person should be able to make a good movie about that.
