Why is it that

when I attack a disgusting ideology like Islam people get triggered, but when I say conspiracy theorists deserve to get COVID and call them murderers no one gets offended and reports my posts?
That's one of the reasons why I hate religion; under any circumstance ideologies that call for things like murder would be attacked, but as soon as atrocious teachings are part of a religion they have to be protected and it's "bigoted" to even just criticize them... 🙄

It's best not to attack people's beliefs. I don't agree with Islam myself but I don't post about it. The best policy is if it's going to offend people then don't post it.

@Emosaur It's not a very nice thing to say, is it?

@Emosaur Try to stick to topics you can say nice things about. It's best to keep angry and bitter thoughts to yourself on the Internet.

@HairbrushDiva Why should he feel the need to self-censor to make other people happy?
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins I'm just trying to suggest ways to avoid people getting triggered. Have you any better ideas?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HairbrushDiva My idea is that its their own problem if they get salty.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins Yes, but that doesn't eliminate the toxic arguments that lower the tone of the site, does it?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HairbrushDiva I don't get why people always act like arguments are such a bad thing. If you don't wanna argue about religion, either don't go on religious threads or block the people who like to do it.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins I don't get why people always act like arguments are such a good thing. I would rather see everybody getting along together. The best way to handle differences like that is to just live and let live. That applies to both sides.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HairbrushDiva If people didn't argue about stuff, society would move along at a snail's pace. Discussion of disagreements and debate are important for helping people see each other's perspectives, and lay bare the flaws in people's arguments.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins Maybe, but people aren't going to change just for you or Emosaur, are they?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HairbrushDiva Sometimes they do. Sometimes, my opinions change because someone I've been debating with has a good point.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins I don't change for other people and I don't expect them to change for me. That's why it's best to live and let live.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HairbrushDiva I don't expect others to change for me, but I know it does happen at times and I'm glad when it does.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins Doesn't it make you feel guilty that you've manipulated someone to come round to your way of thinking?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HairbrushDiva Not at all. It makes me feel satisfied to have given them new information that they can use to better serve themselves and their communities. I don't consider it manipulation because I don't consider the tactics I use to be dishonest.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins Manipulation isn't necessarily dishonest. I form the impression that you think you have the right to tell people how they should or shouldn't think. You think they must agree with you in order to better serve themselves and their communities. Who are you to make these decisions?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@HairbrushDiva I have the right to advise people on stuff and they have a right to either accept or reject my advice, just as others have the right to do so for me. I base my conviction that my advice is helpful on empirical evidence and the most credible news reporting I can find. A logical argument will not always yield correct results, but it's the best we've got as people.
