I Am An Atheist

So apparently the world is said to end tomorrow by a group of Christian zealots.

According to them, either God or Noah (two of their imaginary friends) are said that they will kill off the Earth with fire instead of flooding it with water (which never happened).

Seriously, how many times is this going to be brought up? It's getting old.

First there's a 1994 prediction, then the 2000 prediction, then the 2011 prediction, then the 2012 prediction (though, I'll be fair and say that was Mayan, and I'm not sure if that correlates with Christianity) and now this crap in 2015 because of the lunar eclipse that just happened (which by the way, was a beautiful sight).

Seriously, when is this ever going to stop? It's beyond ridiculous at this point.

I can't help but think that holding such views must be really depressing. How does one go about looking forward to the future if they have convinced themselves there isn't one?

Our taxes are taken out the same way.
But there are like 10? Taxes taken out of my paycheck. Social Security is retirement for when you turn 67, because they raise the age.
Medicare is health insurance for seniors.
There is disability. State and city taxes. Federal tax.
The largest amount is the federal tax, most of which probably ends up in the black hole of accounting that is the pentagon.

Even if there were massive fires on all continents, simultaneously, how would that wipe out humanity? No one has the sense to put out to sea and survive by eating fish, etc? No one possesses the technology to make sea water drinkable? Once all the combustibles are consumed, no one has the wherewithal to head for buildings constructed of stone? You don't even have to be educated to see that there are more holes in this prediction than in Swiss cheese. You would have to be a special kind of stupid to believe this crap.

I swear, if they mean by a forest fire type of flood. It wont be possible. It has to be really dry to be a forest fire. Now, most places probably have a lot of rain.

The blood moon when the world ends in the bible was supposed to be the fourth after the prediction. There's been over 200 since then. I pointed this out to a fundie who told me the predictions were not always accurate. Eh?
