Do you read your horoscopes?

Which of the thousands of horoscopes online and in print should be followed and why?

My education didn’t include magical claims and fortune telling scams. There is zero evidence for astrology. Nor any actual research on the stereotyping. What organization would finance such a task? Especially when there are people that accept astrology without question?

But don’t take my say so. Do a simple search on ‘astrology research results' and see what turns up.

We’re not programmed robots. Astrology is a first cousin to racism and sexism.

@BlueSkyKing have you bothered to do your own research? if yes. what are your sources?
@Penny I have access to the same internet as you. My choice is to first review the research results of those that have invested the money and time. Only commercial sites came up.

Surely there must be something that convinced you. Link me to the relevant sites which show it works and how it works. Then I’ll get back to you.

@BlueSkyKing read abook. id start with linda goodman's sun signs and read your own. see if it has any relevance. she is a serious astrologer.
@Penny Of course I’ve known of Linda Goodman's first book, why is it relevant? That is what you call research? You’re telling me the top astrologers in the field take her claims seriously?

Did she explain the physics and how she went traveling around the world to collect data? Is her stereotyping, even after over fifty years, the standard? No one never found anything mistaken or wrong in what she wrote?

Be serious. If someone did actual research, why aren’t there results published online?

@BlueSkyKing its relevant to me. i mean, really think. with an open mind. just try. newton "discovered" gravity by observing an apple falling. did he need "scientific research" to know that this "gravity" existed? no. he just had a thought about an observation. something you should try. thinking freely without some slavish insistence that everything have scientific proof or that its not valid just because its not backed up with scientific data. astrology is as much an art as a science. its like youre saying shakespeare isnt a gifted artist because he didnt paint
@Penny I think with an open mind but I don’t let it fall from my head. Astrology isn’t a person and should be able to defend itself with evidence. Are you against testing?

Newton described gravity, he didn’t 'discover'. For the most part, the actions work. Science is self correcting. Einstein did better especially when it came to extreme levels. His experiments with light was his greater work and something anyone can do themselves. The only tools needed are prisms and a light source.

What Newton really liked was alchemy, which probably contributed to his death. He was a very superstitious man.

Astrology is art? Seriously? When is the next exhibition by a con artist?
Penny · 46-50, F
@BlueSkyKing okay, then its like youre saying all art sucks because some people are bad at it. you really need to get a grip
@Penny Don’t put words in my mouth. You call it art, I say it’s con artists. Learn the art of cold reading. It’s useful for all forms of fortune telling.
Penny · 46-50, F
@BlueSkyKing im not putting words into your mouth. im using my own analogy. anyone ever tell you you are pigheaded ? i hope its only about this subject. so you read Linda Goodman's Sun Signs?
@Penny I get aggressive when magic based claims are presented as fact. If this was about tarot cards, ouija boards, and palm reading my responses would be the same. Allow one, the others must be feasible. Lots of astrology sites offer other fortune telling options. One stop shopping, we got them all.

Goodman's book is available as a free e-book so I could bring it up anytime. Checked out Wikipedia too.

@BlueSkyKing well, you did an internet search so you must be an expert
@Penny Found more about Goodman (not her real name) than any evidence for astrology. It’s been around for millennia, so finding it may take a few more centuries.
