The first question I would ask myself to check Astrology is "How does Astrology work on other systems in our universe?" One will find that is cannot be validated due to it not being practiced in other celestial systems. So, my follow up question would be: If Astrology cannot be tested quantitively, how is it able to be verified in the first place? 😅

Astrology is birthed forth from Alchemy, and as an Alchemist I can inform you that the way Astrology is being used today is very different than its original use historically. Creepy people who squeeze out money with TV or onine services in Astrology, extreme claims to do things that where not historically within the scope of Astrology, and not to start about the "trendy lifestyle stuff" that is often making it more appear like a persistent hype kind of thing.

The practice of Astrology by itself is valid, but only when it is used according to its intended use. I am not talking about predicitions of personalities through Astrology or making prophecies of ones day.. Traditional Astrology worked on the interconnective layers of celestial behavior, and this was often used to convey messages not appropriate to its time, because the behavior and practices around Astrology worked like an encoding system to make agreements upon, such as on which moment to meet.. remember, no one had a clock in those days.. people in these Arts used Astrology as an advantage to better understand and organize themselves and others, later people began to reform it into the mind forecasts and stuff you see today. Over time, the practices it produced created the system most astrologists use and love today, but it is flawed. If using Astrology as a communicative tool to organize thoughts and understand celestial movement, I would say I would consider it highly valid. 😇

The main benefit of Astrology is that it can be used across languages. It is an artform that expresses relationships between celestial objects to convey a meaning. Because of this, one does not require language to chat to another tribe, one would simply express the Astrology.. it was since ancient times the Twitter of the Occult world.. and to this day still is. Its values are determined through conventions that date back to the stone age when human ancestors started to draw pictures.. It was used to great effect in wars to predict floods, winters, and celestial movements.. It shaped culture, it shaped society.. but many forgot this.. and so in the end only the social aspects remained dominantly visible, and this also being the reason why Astrology is still being able to be used for things other than mental relationships..

All in all, Astrology is very valid, but it does require to grasp the context to be able to use it as intended. Astrology is a soft science, based on conventions, but with real applications, real values, and a history deeper than most often consider it to do have.. I hope this helps to get some idea of what Astrology is about! 🤍

I don't think it valid at all. Fun perhaps, but that's all.

Astrology, like tarot-cards and tea-leaves, works on subtle but simple psychological effects such as latching onto co-incidences.

These tend to highlight themselves in your mind, so you forget all the incidents that had no connection to any constellation, pretty picture or unwashed crockery.

The columns in the papers are meaningless of course: written randomly. However, "professional" fortune-tellers giving personal "consultations" know these effects, and are skilled at reading and manipulating their customers' vocal and body responses to leading questions, to guide the "consultation".

Fortune-telling is entertaining, but should not be taken seriously as a guide or predictor of your life.

@JimboSaturn Sorry - I don't really know what that means.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@ArishMell It describes what you said. Picking out the instances that agree with your beliefs while ignoring the facts that don't agree.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@JimboSaturn Thank you. So a very common trait, of course, and in serious matters, not just in fun things like fortune-telling.

Post your natal chart and I'll know many things about you and your life.

So... don't show your natal chart to anyone if you're a private person.
@eblswseblw thank you good advice.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Completely invalid.
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn I wasn't being rude. What did I say that you interpreted as rude?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Crazychick At least have the decency to spell it correctly if you expect people to take you seriously. - that is rude
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn In that case, I no longer wish to interact with you. Goodbye.
Crazychick · 36-40, F
It's true about everyone I know and false about nobody, so how can it not be valid?
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@Emosaur I wouldn't say every horoscope could apply to people of any zodiac sign. You only need to compare two adjacent signs (like Aquarius and Pisces, for example) to see how vastly different they are. As for "confirmation bias", I've yet to be confirmed (in a biased or unbiased way) that such a thing really exists. Astrology is like everything else, it can only be true, full stop, OR false, full stop. ONE OR THE OTHER. And since I've always found it to be true, how can it be false?

@Emosaur You are just a narrow-minded bigot and a troll. You are the one who is oblivious if you can't see something that's as glaringly obvious as astrology while at the same time thinking such nonsense as "confirmation bias" exists. I will not waste any more time with you.
Zero. Show it works and how it works, otherwise it doesn’t work.
@Crazychick You have the internet at your fingertips, link up the obvious evidence. Whom, among the people that promote astrology, tale up the burden of proof? How does one actually study astrology?

If I wanted to start, examining the results of other studies would be my starting point. Well, no such research results exist because nothing has been done. No organization has ever invested the funds. Why bother? There are plenty of gullible people that don’t question magic.
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@BlueSkyKing Stop using words like "gullible" if you want people to take you seriously.
@Crazychick No links yet?

I don’t want approval, I like truth. Humans are pattern seeking creatures that can be fooled by our senses and prejudices. We just don’t like admitting this.

It has its place
@Isthisit Yeah, for excuses and avoiding personal responsibility.

Unless we are in their gravity well, the planets and asteroids don't do squat.
@canusernamebemyusername So you don't believe in Astrology
MasterDvdC · 70-79, M
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being worst and 10 best it would be around -50
GeorgeTBH · 31-35, M
