China Invasion of Taiwan (CCP vs Republic of China), will it start World War 3?

Taiwan logistically is an independent state of the original Republic of China, that was founded after the fall of the Qing Dynasty. Communists seized mainland China following the first and second Sino-Japanese wars which weakened the Qing Dynasty (First), and ROC (Second). The fall of the Qing Dynasty happened in 1912, between the two Sino wars.
Xi's ultimate goal is to restore China to it's borders of the height of the Qing Dynasty, which included Taiwan.
Taiwan enjoys traditional Chinese culture blended with modern infrastructure and conveniences.
The "One China Policy" was an effort to satisfy the CCP, while still allowing Taiwan to exist in some autonomy.
Per usual, nothing is ever good enough for communists, and they always want more.
If China were to invade Taiwan to annex it, would we expect WW3 to break out?

I'm not sure it would escalate to WW3, I'm pretty certain it would make the current recession / supply crisis look like a joke in comparison to the one that will follow

@Elessar It could kickstart the US economy in full swing like it did for us in WW2. No fighting. Just selling goods to Europe. But I think in this case selling war materials and goods to Taiwan would be a declaration of war to China. Considering the circumstances.

@ShadowWolf Early-1900s U.S. wasn't critically dependent on Germany for its economy, 2022 west is critically dependent on both China and Taiwan. It'll be rough, very very rough, before it'll get better (if ever)

@Elessar That's true. Great point.
