Mysterious Origins
Mysteries absorb the identity of my family and give me much that sparks interest in others. My maternal grandfather is Nabataean, for instance. These are of Arab Bedouin origins from the lands adjacent to the city of Raqmu in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the occupied West Bank, and northern Saudi Arabia.
My maternal grandmother was originally a nun at a convent in Jordan, who gave up never taking her vows to her Order, instead marrying my grandfather in a civil service across the border in Israel. She had been born in Barcelona, the Catalan city in North eastern Spain. These mysteries joined with those of my father's family to create me!
My father's family are Catalans from Besalu, near to Girona. They moved into Barcelona, with my great grandfather who was a sculptor working with Antoni Gaudi's architectural team building the Sagrada catgedral. There are various other connections which are my families mysteries. How my grandfather 's family supported the Republicans against the Nationalists during the Civil War.
