Pierre-Auguste Renoir ~ Young Woman Sewing (1879)

Renoir is one of my favorite artists. It’s quite an experience to view his paintings in person, because reproductions and photographs don’t do him full justice. His use of paint to create layers and texture fascinates me. The painting below is currently on display at the Art Institute of Chicago and is one of my favorites of his. In this painting, he used so much and such thick paint on the flower arrangement in the background that the flowers are raised and essentially 3-D. You have to walk around the painting from side-to-side to fully appreciate it.

Beautiful.
My favorite is Jeunes filles au piano.

@bijouxbroussard It’s beautiful. I’d love to go to Paris someday and immerse myself in museums and architecture. Renoir was on record that he much preferred painting flowers and still life over people. I’d love to see the detail and technique he used for the flowers on the piano.
