One of my positively favourite places in Barcelona, the Fundacio Joan Miro!

Miro set up his own foundation in 1968 to create a workshop and gallery space for young contemporary artists. With his friend Joan Prats (1891-1970) an artist and promoter, he establishednthe space that has now become the Fundacio Joan Miro, Centra d'Estudis d'Art Contemporani, which opened it's doors in 1975. The austere Modernist building was designed by Josep Luis Sert (1902-1983). Today, the museum has a permanent collection of work by Miro, Tapies and Rene Magritte (1898-1967), the Belgian Surrealist, as well as providing exhibition space for contemporay artists. It is in the Montjuic area of southern and western Barcelona.
