Just because you find something on your property doesn't mean it's yours to sell does it ?
Especially if there's no evidence to suggest you put it there. I suspect the feeling is that at least if the current property owner sells it the respective government can at least impose a tax on the windfall
@ninalanyon Lots of countries have laws surrounding what might be termed 'treasure' if discovered on your property. That means the state owns it. Regardless of who owns the property. Which means it isn't yours to sell.
In fact in some places they can force you to move if the 'treasure' can be determined as a natural resource. Oil. Gas. Gold etc.
Oh there'll be some form of compensation. Eventually. You know how governments and corporations love to drag anything owed by them even if determined by law.
