Carnivalian Plague Citizen in their early stage.

The plague, known as HeliumX, emerged upon the citizens of Carnivalia one summer's night when an alchemical experiment went wrong within its laboratories. Nobody knew how the plague first happened or what the experiment was, all they know is that it started with balloons. Balloons were infecting the Carnivalian citizens slowly, it started as a mere rash and with each playful pop, HeliumX was unleashed upon the unwitting masses, spreading like a malevolent specter through the air. Those infected found themselves succumbing to a grotesque metamorphosis, their bodies contorting into grotesque caricatures of their former selves, festering balloons protruding from their flesh like malignant tumors.

The once-cheerful Carnivalians wandered the deserted streets, their laughter replaced by guttural moans of agony. The very air itself became a vector of contagion, tainted by the ominous whispers of twisted science and the scent of decay. Eventually, the area was quarantined and nobody has been allowed in. Since then, it has been dubbed Jester's Hallow. Though neighboring communities say if you listen closely, you can hear faint whispers inviting you in that carry sometimes through the air, like it wants to infect you.

How strange that balloons have become so prominent in your works when that was my first independently chosen subject for images

@Jackaloftheazuresand Do you have any of your old images left? I'd like to see. I don't know why balloons are so prominent in my stuff, I think it's because I like clowns, even homicidal ones haha. So maybe that's why.

@SatanBurger I think I might've shown you, is this familiar?

Speaking of which I saw this recently and instantly thought of you [media=https://youtu.be/iWESrlcY5tE]

It is very familiar but not sure how long ago it was. I really like it, it's like chaotic and make me want to go running in some crazy race like that lol. There's so much going on, kind of reminds me of the cartoon Superjail when towards the end they kill everyone in one long sequence at the end of every episode lol.

That's a great series, I remember lol. That was one of my favorite Junji Ito stories just because it's just so downright creepy, genuinely it creeped me out and I never get creeped out at horror anymore but Junji Ito is effective like that. That story has stuck with me for awhile. Thanks for reminding me of it ha now I gotta watch it again.

I'm not gonna lie, he's a big influence for me so I wouldn't doubt if I'm influenced by that some what when I consider my pictures and stuff, body horror is really big in my pictures, even accidentally.

Besides that episode, there was one other thing that has only creeped me out so far which was Resident Evil, I don't remember which game but there was this really big zombie captain you have to kill and when you get to him, he's reciting his last words over and over again as if still human but something is clearly wrong with his voice so you know that when you open that door something isn't right.

Oh I found it:

@Jackaloftheazuresand That skeleton pic kind of makes me happy, I could see me running along side those skeletons just laughing lmfao while they fall off a bridge.

@SatanBurger They are fleeing from a ball and balloon alliance that is trying to destroy skeletonkind. I'm guessing they are like "Oh no the maneating piranhas escaped containment" and then proceeds to do like a Happy Tree Friends style death montage.

I've never experienced any of his work besides that and some father who needs spirals. It's a level of absurd creatively that I am not accustomed to but that just makes it less of a nightmare for me because I'm trying to work out what's going on in my mind.

I remember you telling me about this I think on my monster post. Always going back to The Thing, it makes me think it only mimics the words without knowing what they mean

@Jackaloftheazuresand It did give me the Happy Tree Friends vibe only my mind went to Superjail first lol.
Either way I like it, I don't think the skeletons are having a good time being chased though. I think if that were me, I'd happily run alongside the skeleton with a baseball swinging away at the balloons lol.

What I kind of like about his stories is that they're kind of like fairy tales but body horror, only the original Grimm fairy tales though and not the new stuff. I think hanging balloons was a nice introduction for you lol. I can get about trying to work things out in your head, there's lots to unpack there.

Oh yeah I remember that conversation too and that's entirely possible, it's a zombie in this case and it's already long dead. It's just freaky that it likely is stuck on a moment that the person when they were alive, like maybe their ship sank at one point in their lives and for some reason its one brain neuron remembers that and is forever stuck on that.
