We Got New Phones & IPads About 5 Weeks Ago And Guess What?

The TV went kaput this morning, no light on the screen. Now it needs to be replaced.

My dad had an old tv that he bought in the 80s, my son took it and said the thing still worked.

I remember when you could test and buy tubes at the drug store

@MarineBob yeah, no tubes these days. They have backlights. Would likely cost more to repair than replace. This tv was a little more than 3 years old. Had we got the 3-year warranty too bad, it would have been a waste of money.

You can probably pick up a 48" screen tv cheap at Walmart. A VIZIO, in an open box, is on sale at my Walmart for $188. That's the one I have. I bought, it 10 years ago at my first and last Black Friday sale for $100!!!!

It's been a good little TV, considering I didn't even WANT a TV when I bought it...but I was going to be damned if I paid $35 a month tacked onto my rent for TV service when I didn't even own a TV!!!!

@4meAndyou They went to Sam’s and got a Samsung for $448…it is a 75 inch screen. Seems like the color is better. Just got manufactured a month ago. The boy said it included Samsung TV which has more free channels than what OEC has for basic tv service.

@cherokeepatti Well...I guess I am a cheapskate...🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou Ray always wants a huge tv to watch, an he sits in his recliner (which is now a lift chair with heat & massage features that he bought a little over 2 months ago). He has a hiatial hernia and doesn’t like to sleep in a bed and he wants the tv in order to sleep. No wonder the backlight burnt out on the other TV

You can watch TV on your IPads. TV’s today are relatively inexpensive.

@jackjjackson yes they are. Just wanting to find one that with good resolution etc. This last one was good but not all are like that. He wants another 75 inch tv, has it hanging on the wall. We had another one and it was on a stand on a stand. Came into the living room and notice it was tilting. The stand had cracked and it about fell over. I held it up for about 30 minutes before finding a way to get away from it and call him. They put it on a wall mount. It was smaller than this 75 inch tv. Now the larger TV’s make me anxious thinking about that. What if they fall off the wall mount or something.
