I damaged my new camcorder when it fell off a shelf

Landed on the zoom ring and left it with a flat spot so revolving the ring is no longer smooth.
Which affects the quality of the video with the zoon ring gripping and releasing with a shudder.
I have contacted a repairer to have the ring replaced.
