Does it matter if a tv is not a smart tv?

Northwest · M
Smart TV means that your TV comes with a built-in "streaming" management platform. Like Amazon, Roku, Google, etc,

This limits your choices, and you're stuck with that technology for as long as you own that TV.

At one point, the industry was trying to standardize on a "slot", that you can plug into an add-in card, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

The problem is that I can't even find any non-smart TVs out there. I bought a smartTV a few years back. Over the past few months, the technology it was built with (Amazon TV), kept evolving, and now my TV can't support the new features, and it's running out of memory often, as I'm streaming.

I had to buy an external Amazon unit, but it's a pain, because I now need multiple remotes and some of the features conflict with each other.

Having a normal TV is better.

Smart TV is kind of annoying and equipped with spyware.
