Should I ask for a discount on my monitor that was shipped to me and got "water damaged" at the shipping company??

Hey, everyone. How would you handle this situation?
I ordered a monitor online to my country and it arrived safely at my local warehouse for pick-up. However, when I called for the product, I was told they sent it back to the head office as there was heavy rainfall and the "box got wet" while in storage and was sent back for further checks. The young lady who told me this, enquired if I didn't receive a call about it, I didn't. After talking to the girl from my local shipping comapny, I proceeded to call the head office, only to be told their technicians are checking on it. I also receive dan email response after I e-mailed them with a follow-up, telling me they did the checks and see no physical signs of damage and it will be sent back to my local warehouse, near to where I live!........... This is the first time I'm having a problem with them. I am also SCARED my monitor might not work..... Do I ask them to remove the shipping cost or to give me a discount? They did not tell me there was damage to my item to begin with, I had to be told this when I was ready to pick it up :(

If you paid for it by credit card then I'd cancel it immediately and order again. You shouldn't put out money on a "maybe." Their mistake and they need to eat the cost.

I would first try the monitor to see if it works fully. If not, you can always return it. Is there no warranty requirement in your country?

sounds like amazon
This is the fault of the shipping company, do a complete video recording of the unboxing to document any possible damage or its not working, if there is any damage or not working of your monitor, contact the main shipping office itself, once shipped it's the responsibility of the shipping office. This is why shipping insurance is important for high cost items, they will have to be the ones to replace it.

@NativePortlander1970 Thank you. I will be doing that. I still might ask in the meantime though for them to remove at least some of the sipping cost before it comes back to my town.
@LoneGirl101 You're so very welcome, they should not charge anything extra as they are thebones that transported it around on their own accord, not your own request.
