GE Microwave broke after one year.

It made a loud pop/noise... it scared me and I immediately opened the door. I put my food back in the microwave, and the microwave no longer heated any food.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Check and see if it's one of the recalled ones

@MarineBob I suddenly saw all these reviews saying it's a common issue with that model #. I don't know why I didn't see those reviews when I bought it.

modern microwaves are about the least reliable appliances made; I've never had one last more than a few years, regardless of brand. Just a bunch of plastic with cheap shit chinese electronics...

had an old westinghouse microwave that I picked up secondhand, from 1985, worked flawlessly for several years; only got rid of it when door latch broke (door wouldn't stay shut); weighed about 60-80lbs, I repurposed the internals to build a spot welder (which were all quality built made in USA)

Not at all....my first microwave lasted 35 years, and worked well until one day it didn’t.
I’ve had my 2nd one for about 2 years

@DragonFruit Yeah... that's how it's supposed to be. Sigh.
