Appliances that offer more than they are supposed to.

During the early aughts I owned a newly purchased Toshiba TV and on multiple occasions , my TV viewing would get interrupted by onscreen computer scrolling, mostly encrypted but, definitely of a military nature. And, since I lived in close proximity to a major military base, I was quite nervous over the whole ordeal but too paranoid to report it.

Also more recently, I lived in a townhouse where, of all things, the dryer appliance received very clear transmissions from a radio station. There was a utility tower of sorts reasonably close-by but I don't know if the two were related.

Finally as a teenager, my friends stereo system could pick up very audible transmissions from the very close-by police station but, here's the thing, the transmissions did not emanate from the receiver or tuner but, from the turntable.

Your story seems suspicious.

Please elaborate, how ?

In-fact, while bracing for some ridicule, I did a little research and found reasonable explanations to all I presented except for the reference about the TV. Now all this was accomplished in just a ten minute or so internet search. And believe me, I'm a pretty creative guy and, if I were to make up stories, out of thin air, they would be much more entertaining and engaging than those referenced above.

@gheloveg Here is my professional diagnosis:

1. You are experiencing paranoia.
2. The military would not be transmitting on consumer frequencies.
3. You are seeking immediate attention.

@MarkPaul Hesitant minds never grow bigger; nevertheless here is more information re: that particular incident.

The scrolls which appeared on my TV were taking place in real time, someone actually typing or exchanging messages. This only seemed to occur at a specific time as it ( I would say in totally about 3-4 times) always interrupted a favorite TV show I would watch, only on those occasions when it didn't interfere with my work schedule.

Not being a computer geek, perhaps the word encrypted was too strong, I'm not even sure what a encrypted message would look like, I am just going by public perception as to what encrypted means. A better word choice may have been" heavily codified ". I am former military and quite familiar with military acronyms and such. Even reading a standard military memo might be a chore for a civilian however, these message were far and beyond the standard military lingo. to the point where I could only recognize just a few acronyms and abbreviations.

Now you begin by say the military would not be transmitting on consumer frequencies therefore I guess you had you head under a rock in regards to the current case regarding a, barely just out of adolescence, National Guardsmen, not even a full military member, transmitting highly classified information, in a chat room, no less.

Now my event happened in around 2002 so, you mean to tell me that with all the hi-tech safe guards and sophistication in 2023, this kid was steal able to sneak files from Pentagon servers and transmit files ( not simply just give a report on what he has seen ) unto a chat room?

Me referencing that the messages being typed across my screen was of a military nature does not imply that they were militarily sanctioned by command. Also the point of the tale was to point out how the TV intercepted messages that it was not designed (?) to do. [b][i]So even if the messages had been from 5th. street Elementary School, they still not should have appeared on my TV set.

And for you and all the other smart___, out there if you think Toshiba is just a benign TV and Radio manufacturer, perhaps you need to examine its past history from WW2 right up until the 80's (and this is just the disclosed information I have been able to come across in a 1/2 hr internet search). So some one, on the assembly line mistakenly putting the wrong chip or wrong transistor would not be a surprise.

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1987/07/20/Toshiba-apologizes-to-nation-for-sale-of-submarine-technology/8735553752000/[b]

"The Pentagon said the sale damaged U.S. security, and its disclosure touched off an explosion of anger against Toshiba on Capitol Hill.

Lawmakers threatened a ban on Toshiba imports and held rallies urging Americans to boycott Toshiba, which makes lap-top computers, televisions, photocopiers, video-cassette recorders and semiconductors".

So why don't you get up off your couch and search for more, if you are interested in expanding you mental boundaries. But, thanks I would have never sought to gain confirmation of my story if it had not been for your arrogance.

@gheloveg Let me help you gain awareness for your condition. First, let's summarize your basic story...

You seem to want to suggest that some low-level kid with an axe to grind decided to transmit encrypted messages on a TV broadcast signal in the hopes that, like Jack Teixeira, he would impress his friends. AND... A N D... he (or she or they) purposefully did that to gain YOUR attention by doing this at the time of your favourite TV show.

Well, that's just not believable.

Next, you want to claim that Toshiba aided and abetted this traitorous act by embedding a chip in its TVs that made it possible for this top secret information to be transmitted on broadcast TV signals, targeted to you. That's a lot of coordination that would have had to take place. Again, just not believable.

Might I suggest you might benefit from "talk-sessions" that would allow you to present your need to be the centre of attention AND for you to receive instruction on how to moderate that.

Unbelievable ! How did you even read into my response , which could afforded you the nonsense of your reply ? ( wait... don't answer, the ? was merely for punctuation purposes).

I won't even waste the effort to identify just how misconstrued and baseless and just simply retaliatory your response is.

I truly hope others are following this discussion, let them determine who actually needs counseling or other mental health services. I bid you farewell.
