Sometimes I know what I'm talking about

Had to call in to apartment maintenance that the fans on my AC unit were loose and would sometimes screech against the other parts in the middle of the night. Guy came to check it out, saw nothing wrong, moved on.

Happened again, called it in again, same thing. "Not seeing the issue."

Called it in a third time. Same story.

Called it in again today and finally it stopped working when he took a look at it. And in fact they had been loose so long they burnt out the whole fan assembly, which means they need to buy me a new air conditioner. Gee, almost like I knew this was exactly the problem. Oh well, not my money that could have been saved by just checking it thoroughly the first time!

Probably because you address the problem too soon. Mostly they don't wanna hear that, like "you know better than them."

Usually, I play dumb like "what's wrong with this?" "Why it sounds unsual?" Then, they will check it out.
I don't know why. Which is why I never address the problem even though I know the problem. They won't believe it until they see it.

@iamelijah I can see that being their reasoning. But a large part of my job involves preventive maintenance and checking things so that they don't fail like this, so it's really hard for me to not report something early!
